As you probably know, last week I was leading a team of 3 individuals who came through the short-term department at AIM.  It was quite a busy week, so I didn’t get around to blogging last week, but I did not forgot you all!

So…I know you are all wondering why I am calling myself a Nerd.   Well, you see I think I really like English.  It’s weird, I know.  How can someone enjoy a language so much?  You may or may not know this, but while I was in college, I studied Speech Therapy.  I loved watching English speakers move their mouths.  This helped me to diagnose speech impediments and delays.

While I was in Romania month 6 of my Race, Raul asked me to teach English.  I thought there would only be a couple people, but it ended up being a large group of men ranging from 16-55.  While I was teaching them, I felt the Lord leading me to teach out of the Bible. Through this one of the men in my class was led to the Lord.  He is now on the evangelism team, 9000 Souls.

I never saw how God would be able to use my degree without graduate school, but He isn’t a God of human understanding.  We can’t understand everything He has in His hands for us, but we need to know it is going to be good!   I say all of this to tell you:

Starting on Saturday, June 20th (this Saturday), I will be starting English class for teenagers.  I have invited a large number to come and learn/practice their English.  I will be having English class every Saturday morning from 9-11 during the summer.  After the summer, we will see how it all works and see if their is still interest in learning.   My dream and desire for this is two-fold.  1) I desire my “students” to know English, as this will better impact their ability to get jobs in English-speaking countries, which means sending money back to their families in need and 2) I want them to hear the news of Jesus Christ.  Just as I had been convicted previously on The World Race, I believe God is calling me to teach through the Word of God.   The majority of the teenagers are in programming and are “comfortable” with the Scripture, but there are some who have never read the Bible coming and I am so excited for them to hear THE Truth!

Please pray for me in these ways:

1) Wisdom on what to teach and how

2) a) Pray for those who are coming to be encouraged and better equipped in their English speaking abililities. b) Pray for the students that they would desire to know more of God and for their hearts and ears to be open to the Bible through the use of English.

Thank you all so much!  Love each and everyone of you sooo sooo much!

  1. God is so good at giving us opportunities to use our talents in new ways. I am so excited for you as you begin this new ministry that will surely open doors to sharing God’s love with a hurting generation! Keep up the great work!
