Let’s just start this out on an encouraging note…GOD IS SHOCKING! What do I mean by this? Well, just wait…you’ll find out…
A couple weeks ago, I found out that we would have a team of YWAM Romania serving with us for a day in Daneasa on Feb. 9. I did know that it would be me and a couple other who would be heading up the team, as Marian would be out of town. You know…us as human beings, tend to have expectations. My expectations would be SINCE….I’m new to the ministry in Daneasa, it wouldn’t be my responsibility to lead everything…and I also had the expectation that the team would speak English. I mean they are YWAMers for Pete’s sake…
Haha, well the day of, I find out that it’s just me and another girl in charge of this team…and I was the only missionary over Daneasa (this is excluding 2 men we had from YWAM). I was also shocked to find out that neither one of them spoke any English, so for the whole afternoon, I was concentrating on speaking Romanian.
I mean what did I do? This totally wasn’t what I was expecting…
What else could I do? I needed to receive the challenge and allow for the Spirit to work and to burden our hearts for the houses that needed to know about Jesus the most. You see, I’m good at relationships, but I’m not good at home visits. I’m not good with just going up to someone I’ve never met and asking them if we could chat. These two men really “shocked” me. They are quite the evangelists and it was such an encouragement. P.S. We ended up going to kids’ houses that have come to my English class once in a while.
I was so encouraged by the home visits, that the Lord had burdened me that I need to do visits every week and through visits, I can really get to know the community and they can really get to know me. Friends, I say all of this to say that I had no idea what the day would bring. I walked into it full of fear and hesitation, because never ever have I lead a team and never ever have I made a home visit on my own. I was worried about what the team would say, as well as what the outcome of the parents would be.
What resulted was: prayer on top of a hill that overlooks Daneasa that included a word for Daneasa from John 15:10, 6 home visits: 1 to encourage a family of believers and 5 visits to encourage the kids to continue coming to English, as well as Gospel presentations at some of the homes, as well as 2 new children to my English class 4 days later. There was much fruit that came out of these visits…had I just said nope, I can’t do this…none of this would have happened. “I have not given you a spirit of fear, says the Lord, but a spirit of power and a strong mind.”–2 Timothy 1:7
I hope you are as encouraged as I am that the Gospel is being heard in Daneasa and we will not stop reaching Daneasa until everyone hears the truth of Jesus Christ and receives Him.
I hope you enjoy the photos!
“I have not given you a spirit of fear, says the Lord, but a spirit of power and a strong mind.”–2 Timothy 1:7 YES! so good 🙂 I’m praising God for your willingness to be used by Him as His vessel and to partner with Him in bringing the gospel there. It truly is such good news!! Praying for you!!
