The last few weeks have been busy. I’ve been starting to work on my permis de sedere (long-stay visa), looking for furniture for my apartment here in Draganesti-Olt and learning Romanian. The funniest part may be what someone looks upon saying, what?! You’ve got to be kidding me.
A couple days ago, I went into the Immigration Office to start getting documentation ready to send to the appropriate organizations. (The process is quite a detailed one here). Even though, there is so much to get done, I’m not worried about it all happening. The Lord is Sovereign. He’s going to do it! So there’s that piece of information. Every part of the country of Romania files something differently, so many voices have opinions, in which half of them are not correct for this area. Lol…it’s been a patience grower.
Romanian: I love speaking this language. Yesterday, I went into a bigger city about 1.5 hours away from Draganesti-Olt. The name of the city is Craiova. Again, I kid you not. I have NEVER had the boldness and audacity to walk up to someone without knowing what to say and let the Lord use my words. Okay, so if I spoke in English, I think I would normally be okay to do that. However, I’m in Romania, not America. The majority of people do not know English, so I’m pretty sure, the majority of the people understood the Romanian I was speaking. Yeah, um….I have no clue how those words came out of my mouth, however they sure did. Even yesterday, I met this wonderful buneca (grandmother) named Sylvia. She wasn’t a believer, however as we were handing out Bibles, she wanted to take some and give them to her neighbors. She ended up taking 10 Bibles. Who knows what the Lord is going to do with that, but I know He’s not just going to walk away from it. He’s going to speak truth through it….
So, the hilarious side of things….
My apartment: A couple weeks ago, Tavi, who is being comissioned next week to be a missionary and I were looking at apartments for me. The apartment that I wanted to look at a previous missionary family had rented. It’s a 2 bedroom apartment. Okay, so it’s repainted, redone, overall a wonderful, relaxing place to go when and if days at “work” are hard. Here’s the kicker: Do you remember when I posted about possibly being homeless? Do you remember how much I paid a month for that place? Well…I’ll re-fresh your memory. I paid $100/month for that apartment in Madison. What’s even funnier is the more and more I prayed about the apartment in Madison, the more I knew God had started to help me adapt better to Romania. I kid you not. One of my good team members here lives about the same proximity away, as my good friend in Madison did.
This may not be so funny, however I think it’s absolutely hilarious, because regardless of what He asks you to do, He’s going to bless you in return if you obey His voice. I’m blessed to have what I have here.
I will get photos for you with pictures of my apartment when I’m fully moved in, but God is so good and always will be!
Sounds like things are coming together for you there. I’ll be keeping up with your posts so yes get some pics!! Be good… & careful. Luv ya kid!
