Has God ever broken your heart for something or someone before? You know, has He broken it for the refugees who are traveling through Greece to find some sort of peace? Is he breaking it for your neighbor across the street who has recently found out he has 6 months left to live, because the cancer he never knew he had, will claim his life? If you don’t do something about it, doesn’t it create a sense of pain and/or loss in your heart?
I can’t fully explain it, friends, but when God does this, you know you have to do something. We each have been given a purpose, a calling. When we walk in our calling, the Lord delights in it. It’s totally not about us, but there’s an inner sense of peace that we receive. I guess, it’s when you are in the right place, you have this peace that exudes from you and it’s obvious, because others can see it. Well, I can tell you now after this trip to America, I know that God has burdened my heart for the Romanians.
As you may have read, I have been in America for the last 6 weeks. Sorry for the lack of communication, however I met with approximately 100 people within 3 weeks to talk about what all God is doing in Romania, as well as where God is calling me for the future. As I shared about Romania, I was feeling this sense of loss…the loss of not being able to witness to youth about why God has them on the Earth and why God loves them so much. My heart is broken for Southern Romania in a region called Oltenia. I’ve mentioned this before, but less than 0.2% of the Oltenian population truly knows Jesus. Seriously?! This is even a shocker to me to hear, even though I’m going on Year #2. They NEED to KNOW Jesus’ love. They need to know that they are valued, not by what they do, but who HE says they are. So yes, my heart is breaking for Romania. I have been called to evangelism and discipleship, which leads me to tell you this…
I know where I’m supposed to be. God is leading me into a village named Daneasa, which is a 5-minute drive from where I am now. The Lord has opened up doors for me to teach English as a volunteer in the local kindergarten and 1st grade. Praise the Lord for this opportunity, as I strongly believe that it will lead into more relationships within the area of Daneasa. (Romanians are very relational people. Without relationships, you can say all you want about Jesus, but it may not make much sense, because you are not someone close to them.)
This is where you come in! You’ve been such a strong support for me thus far, and I don’t see that changing anytime soon. You have sent me through your prayers, words of encouragement and financial contributions. I need all three of these to continue the work the Lord has called me to here in Romania, specifically in Daneasa. I strongly encourage you to ask the Lord if He is calling you into this ministry specifically through me. If He is calling you, then in what way(s)?
Know that I am praying for you all, that if you are searching for your place and calling that He will reveal it in His perfect time! Thank you all!
What a great post, Rachel!
Thanks Zeb! I mean it’s true…:D HAHA
