Coming UP….

I don’t have words to explain the excitement I have for next month, let alone for this year.  

In 10 days, G-squad 3rd generation will be here.  Normally, I would be excited, however there’s something unique about this squad that triggers this strange sense of joy. I’m not 100% sure what it is, though. I had the privilege back in May last year to attend their training camp in Georgia. Actually, we were both at the same camp, as long-term just had different debriefs and such. One specific night, Clint, who is the Long-Term Director at AIM, was speaking, but just felt the Spirit’s leading for the Alumni to pray over the upcoming racers. As you can imagine, all of us Alumni were so thrilled to be releasing new racers onto the field. I felt so bad for them though:  they had no clue what would unfold that night, let alone the next year of their lives. 

I remember that night so well. I remember The Spirit stirring within me and I started to really pray into that night. I remember stating, “okay God, whoever comes up to me, may you speak to their hearts, through me. May they feel your presence.” Fast forward a few minutes. The racers are asked to go to whoever they feel led to.   First, Sam came up and we (Clint and I) prayed for him. Then, Richelle….oh, sweet little Richelle. I’m not going to go into too much of the story, but let’s just say, God’s good.   And then Drea.   

Okay….what’s the moral of this story/blog post? I remember praying for Sam and Richelle like it was yesterday.    What do all 3 of them have in common?   They were all asked to be team leaders at training camp. I had no clue until after we prayed. Pretty sure, they were all somewhat hesitant to lead. What else is common? All three of them were asked to step up into squad leading at the end of their Month 4. AND MORE? All three of them will be/have been to this ministry. Drea was here in October and she is such a sweet, wonderful woman of God.    Sam and Richelle will be here in 10 days!    

I think it’s hilarious, guys! I remember being at my training camp and remember wanting to be a team leader, but also knowing that I wasn’t going to be one on the race.   It was rough; but I still heard God saying “You will lead World Racers. You will lead them well.” Well, I’m here now and will be with G squad in 10 days. God has given each one of us giftings that you couldn’t even imagine until you step out and practice those giftings.   I am so excited to hear stories from them both about their experiences and journeys on The World Race. I am declaring this month to be a month of encouragement for all of us: missionaries, racers, townspeople and myself! For all I know, God is using this to help me grow in calling up the future leaders of Romania!
