As this summer keeps on rolling by so fast, I have been reminded of God’s faithfulness. God has provided for me in so many ways here. I have shelter, food, clothing, family, friends and most importantly, I have THE Word. God is good, regardless of anything I will ever hear.
This past month, I have been busy with teams, but I also had visited one of my dear friends, Becky and a new friend, Derick. As I was chatting with them, the Lord really convicted me to share my friend Derick’s heart for Romania. You see, Derick just recently became a believer.
Derick is a refugee from Tanzania. He and a couple of his friends were on their way to Western Europe when someone told them (inaccurately) they were in Germany, but really they were in Romania. So, Derick and his friends just stayed, not knowing otherwise. After a very short period of time, they realized that this man had lied to them. As Derick was now living in Romania, a guy by the name of Ben met Derick and shared the Gospel with him. The Lord was working within Derick’s heart. I will not go into the whole story, but Derick went from a man who had a dark past to someone who fell instantly in love with Jesus desiring to follow the Lord in whatever that meant.
For sometime, Derick had been living at a refugee camp in Bucharest. What he saw there started to break his heart. There were many people there, but they hardly could survive on what was given to them. They received 20 Euros a month, which is the equivalent to $25. This is nothing! Derick began praying and thinking of what he could do for those in the refugee camp. And this brings me to this.
It is Derick’s hearts’ desire to attend the Romanian-American University, an English-language school in Bucharest, with the eventual goal of starting a business to support himself and create jobs, and form an NGO to help other refugees. All of the information about Derick is listed on the Crowd Rise page, but he needs another $3,200 by August 20th. Please pray and intercede for Derick. God has huge things in store for him and I’m excited to see how He’s going to move in Derick’s life. I believe in a God who supplies every need, as is listed in the Bible. Do you?
