So,
So much has happened within the last 19 days…I don’t even know where to begin. Let’s do this…I’ll try to do a chronological order of what has happened and then explain what happened from there.
July 11-14th, 2016: Youth Discipleship Camp @ the Black Sea
We left at 4 am from Hope Church as a group of 54 people. We have 6 different vehicles and we arrived @ 12. Long trip, huh? The week was focused on the youth knowing more about Christ and His salvation. The days were focused on the Living Water, The Good Shepherd and Jesus, the light of lights. The youth that went with me, Camelia, knew that she was missing something in her life and didn’t want to live like the rest of the world as they are mean and live as if they don’t have a purpose. Many times she communicated to me that she wanted to set an example for the world and with this, she received Christ. From the moment that she received Christ, she felt something different. Even a few weeks later, she is still a changed girl and others see that she has changed. Her grandmother has even said that Cami is communicating in a different way and wants her eyes to be focused on the Lord.
July 11, 2016: Cornel and I got engaged!
Only hours after we arrived, Cornel asked me to marry him in front of everyone! The story is much more deeper than this, but I only have a few words to share what happened. For weeks, Cornel had been planning on proposing, but wasn’t sure how. I was in a state of shock when he asked me, because I knew it was coming but was unsure as to when it would be. I could hardly get the words out and the only thing I said was ‘da,’ yes in Romanian. We are very happy and know 100% that this is God’s will for our lives.
July 17-July 23: Parent Vision Trip
As usual, we had PVT here for these dates. 13 parents, 3 facilitators and 9 racers were involved. In the dates that they were here, there were over 3,000 Bibles handed out, 160 children exposed to the Gospel and 40 poor families to receive food. For our team in Daneasa, we had the opportunity to go to 3 families and encourage them through God’s Word and the believers were definitely encouraged. We also went to Cami’s family and they were blessed by the gifts that were given to them. Thank you parents for your faithfulness and love in giving towards Hope Church and missionaries.
July 23-July 28: Trip to Sighetu Marmatiei to visit Cornel’s church and family
The day that parents left, I prepared my bags and went with Cornel and Marian to Sighetu Marmatiei. This again, was another long trip was Sighetu Marmatiei is about 12 hours of a car ride from Draganesti-Olt. We had the opportunity to share about our ministry here in Daneasa and Southern Oltenia and I think Cornel was encouraged to have both of his church families together. It was also really encouraging for me to meet his family, as his family is very large and due to ministry reasons, I hadn’t had the chance to meet them yet. I love his family so much and I’m excited to have them as a part of my family.
*For more info on any of these events, please feel free to contact me! God is good and I’m excited to see what He’s going to do in the future!*
Loved the update!
Awesome Rachel!! I’m so excited for you.
Yay!! God has and is doing so so much! I’m so happy for you and I’m so excited for you and all God is doing and will continue to do. Praying for you and Cornel during your engagement as you prepare for marriage. Such an exciting and sweet season! I can’t wait to hear all the details 🙂 And praying for Camelia as well, as she grows in her faith and walks with the Lord. Praise Jesus!!
